Philippe Clement refused to talk specifics today but did say they could be close
Philippe Clement did as he does earlier this afternoon when asked about transfer speculation by the press.
The Rangers manager refused to be drawn on specific names as he continues to keep quiet on club targets and players they hope to bring to Ibrox this month. The Belgian did admit recently, though, that they were close with some movement in January and that triggered excitement from the fanbase, albeit that has not provided any fruit quite yet.
Connor Barron was one name asked about at Clement’s presser this afternoon but he remained coy on the Aberdeen midfielder as Gers continue to be linked with the player. Barron’s contract expires this summer and is permitted this month to speak with interested parties.
Left-back is a position Gers want strengthened but David Jurasek won’t rock up in Glasgow despite recent links. The Czech defender gets ready to join Hoffenheim in Germany instead.
Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland continues to be monitored and linked with a Rangers move but a bumper contract is on the table from the Jambos who wish to keep hold of him.
Sticking with Hearts and Alex Lowry has returned to Ibrox as Steven Naismith opted to cut his loan deal short. Football Scotland understands there are clubs who have already touched base with his club to take him on loan for the end of the season.
Ridvan Yilmaz has NOT told Clement he wants to leave Rangers, despite recent reports. Football Scotland has been told the Turkish left-back is even happy to remain at the club this window despite talk of a number of bids from the likes of Hellas Verona and Galatasaray.
