WATFORD SET FOR £25M WINDFALL AS YASER ASPRILLA COMPLETES RENNES MOVe
Watford FC is poised to receive a £25 million cash injection following the sale of Colombian playmaker Yaser Asprilla to French Ligue 1 side Rennes.
Asprilla, 22, has agreed to a four-year contract with Rennes, with an option to extend his stay by a further year. The transfer deal includes a sell-on clause, securing a potential future windfall for Watford.
The sale marks a significant profit for the Hornets, who signed Asprilla from Colombian side Envigado for £2.5 million just two and a half years ago. The player’s impressive performances for Watford, including six goals and eight assists last season, caught the attention of European scouts.
Watford manager Tom Cleverley will welcome the £25 million boost, providing a timely opportunity to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season. The departure of Asprilla may also prompt Cleverley to seek a replacement, with the transfer window still open.
The sale is expected to be completed shortly, with Asprilla already spotted arriving at Rennes for his medical.
