Jose Cifuentes’ loan deal from Rangers is’very close’, according to Cruzeiro.

The Ecuadorian has been granted permission to leave Ibrox this month

Jose Cifuentes has been granted permission to join Cruzeiro this week with a loan move “very close”.

The Ecuadorian midfielder, 24, has made just 20 appearances for Rangers since arriving from LAFC in the summer and now faces even more competition with Mohamed Diomande joining the club on a £4.5million deal when the obligation kicks in. Cifuentes had initially been approached by Rizespor in Turkey but the player was “not keen” on the move

But when Cruzeiro – owned by Brazilian superstar Ronaldo – made their desire known, the international agreed to make the switch and it’s not claimed to be coming this week.

New manager Nicolas Larcamon promised fans the club would have new players in the building.
