Jannik Sinner is the victim” – Nick Kyrgios trolls Italian with sarcastic dig as he turns heads at Milan Fashion Week amid doping controversy

Nick Kyrgios has continued to take jibes at Jannik Sinner over his doping controversy as the Italian arrives at the Milan Fashion Week for Gucci’s show. The Aussie hasn’t been afraid to convey his thoughts on the World No. 1’s case and has also called for a two-year ban against him.

After he won the 2024 Cincinnati Masters, it was brought to public attention that Sinner had tested positive for Clostebol, a banned drug, twice during the Indian Wells Masters. However, he argued that the substance had accidentally entered his body via massages from his now-former physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi, who had used a healing spray containing the substance for a cut on his finger. The ITIA (International Tennis Integrity Agency) cleared the Italian to play, concluding that the ingestion of Clostebol was an accident. However, this verdict sent the tennis world into a frenzy and a part of the tennis fraternity felt that Sinner’s verdict involved some degree of bias.

Among them was Nick Kyrgios, who has been calling out the verdict and asking for a ban for the 23-year-old.Jannik Sinner also won the US Open title recently. A user on X (formerly Twitter) reposted some photos of the Italian from his appearance at the Milan Fashion Week and said:

“Let’s just pretend the failed drug tests never happened and business as usual? ”

“I don’t know,” Sinner said. “I don’t want to respond on what he said. Everyone is free to say everything. It’s okay. If that is the case, let’s see. It’s gonna be different for sure,” Sinner said.

I don’t want to respond on what he said. Everyone is free to say everything” – Jannik Sinner on Nick Kyrgios’ incessant attacks

After his second-round win at the 2024 US Open, Jannik Sinner was asked how he would react if Nick Kyrgios, who was conducting on-court interviews at the New York major, were to interview him.

Sinner said that he didn’t want to respond to the Aussie’s comments since everyone is allowed to have an opinion. Having said that, he wasn’t sure how the interview would go.

Nick Kyrgios stated on X that he has nothing against Jannik Sinner. He only wants ‘fairness’ in the sport.
