ToItaly’s young tennis star, Jannik Sinner, is set to become the ambassador for the 2026 Winter Olympics. The 23-year-old is already regarded as one of the best players currently playing in men’s tennis in the singles category, along with Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and Serbia’s Novak Djokovic.
Sinner has received yet another accolade as he has been named as the brand ambassador for the 2026 Winter Olympics. The competition is set to be oragnised in Italy with Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo has been nominated as the cities to host. The tournament will be played from February 06-22 in 2026.
Sinner recently became the first Italian player ever to win the US Open title. He defeated America’s Taylor Fritz in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. It was the young Italian’s second Grand Slam in 2024. Previously, he also won the Australian Open after beating Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in a five-set thriller with a score of 3–6, 3–6, 6–4, 6–4, 6–3.
Because of consistent performances in the last 18 months, Sinner became the world number earlier this year during the French Open after Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic was forced to withdraw from the Roland Garros just before the start of the quarterfinal against Norway’s Casper Ruud.
The news will be another positive one for Sinner, who has suffered some tough times in the recent past. The San Candido-born star recently managed to escape a doping ban despite testing positive on two occasions for a banned substance. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA), in a detailed statement, announced that they accepted the player’s counsel’s response where they claimed that the availability of the substance in minimal quantity in the player’s sample was because he received a cream from one of the members of the coaching staff to overcome an injury.
