Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev have separated themselves from chasing pack’

Are the others so bad or are these guys so f*****g good?” That is the question that has been posed by former WTA star Andrea Petkovic in regard to Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Alexander Zverev’s advantage over the ATP’s chasing packing.

Sinner has dominated the 2024 season and he finished the as the year-end No 1 in the ATP Rankings with an impressive haul of 11,830 points.

The Italian, who won the Australian Open, US Open and ATP Finals this year, has a massive 3,915-point lead over second-placed Zverev with Alcaraz another 905 points behind in third place.

Alcaraz himself has a handy gap to the fourth-placed Daniil Medvedev as he is 1,910 points ahead with Taylor Fritz 1,070 points adrift in fourth place.

According to former world No 1 Petkovic, the top three are in a class of their own at the moment.

“I was looking at the top 5 today, and what really stood out to me, so Taylor is No 4, Daniil Medvedev is No 5, and they are at 5,000 points, roughly. One is 5,100 and the other is 5,030 or something,” she said on The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast.

“And then, Carlos and Zverev, are around 7,000 points and Jannik has almost 12,000. So this is what I’m saying, I do think Carlos, Sascha and Jannik have set themselves apart from the pack.

“And the points are telling the story because 2,000 points between Carlos and Taylor and Daniil, 2,000 points are winning a Slam tournament and Carlos and Sascha lose first round, which won’t happen. That’s a big difference.”
