” Incredible.” Nottingham Forest Was Robbed Yesterday; The Former Referee Explains Why

Referee Paul Tierney has come under fire from former FIFA official Keith Hackett following Nottingham Forest’s defeat to Liverpool.

The present pundit has spoken his opinions about the significant incident that lost Forest a point on Twitter.

What has Hackett said, then, regarding Tierney’s input with the Forest outcome? Let’s investigate more closely.

Keith Hackett’s remarks regarding a crucial choice in Forest’s match against Liverpool

Well, he’s effectively articulated what everyone else is thinking about Tierney’s huge error.

The referee is a seasoned match official, and a lower level referee would be irritated if this common error occurred during one of their games.

Tierney halted the game for an injured Liverpool player, leaving Callum Hudson-Odoi in possession of the ball outside the box.

When play resumed, he returned the ball to Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Forest-linked Caoimhin Kelleher, who punted upfield.

Hackett believes the ruling was entirely wrong in law, and he resorted to Twitter to say so:

Hackett spot on to call Tierney out

Evangelos Marinakis was incensed at the end of the game, with the Forest owner marching pitchside to confront the officials.

In our view, that is a sideshow that the club could do without but it’s easy to grasp his frustrations.

Forest have been done over by poor decisions in recent weeks and enough is enough now.

After yesterday, a number of high-profile pundits and former referees have showcased sympathy for Forest.

It’s easy to say that Forest missed chances yesterday and in fairness, they did miss some pretty golden ones to put the game to bed.

However, it can be factually correct that Forest needed to do better and the officials ultimately cost them the chance of a point.

The PGMOL have a lot to answer for and the standards need calling out for what they are!
