Hoffenheim to receive €6-7m following Georginio Rutter’s move from Leeds United to Brighton

Sky Germany reports that Hoffenheim are set to receive around €6-7m for former striker Georginio Rutter following his move from Leeds United to Brighton.

Hoffenheim are said to have a sell-on clause in Rutter’s agreement with Leeds and the striker is set to move for a total of €50m to Premier League side Brighton. This means that Hoffenheim have made a total of €40m from the sale of Rutter in January 2023.

The arrival of Rutter on the English south coast shows the increased influence of the Bundesliga with the arrival of head coach Fabian Hürzeler this summer. Former Borussia Dortmund midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud was already at the club but this summer has seen the arrival of Mainz winger Brajan Gruda as well as now Rutter, while the Seagulls have also been linked with a move to Mats Hummels.

For Hoffenheim, this will give them extra funds to continue their squad planning, which has been poor this summer. The club continues to scramble to sign a new central defender while they also close in on the signing of Adam Hlozek.

In their season opener, Hoffenheim won by the skin of their teeth on penalties against fourth-division side Würzburger Kickers in the DFB Pokal, having to come from behind twice.
