Heart And Hand Issue Rangers Buy-Back Clause Claim As Fabrizio Romano Drops Filip Helander Transfer Update

Rangers do not have a buy-back clause tied to Filip Helander as Fabrizio Romano has issued a transfer update on the Swedish defender.

He claims that Anderlecht have tabled a formal bid to Odense for Helander and will commence discussions over a transfer this month.

The 30-year-old left Ibrox in the summer as his contract expired.

When asked about whether or not Rangers have an option to buy him back, Heart and Hand responded, “None. He wasn’t sold, his contract ran out.”

Not needed

Helander’s time at Rangers was marked by solid performances and contributions to the club’s success.

Arriving from Bologna in 2019, the Swede played a key role in Rangers’ defensive setup, aiding the team in securing the league title in the 2020-2021 season.

His composure, aerial prowess and ability to read the game made him a valuable asset during his stint.

However, Rangers have since fortified their defensive options by signing John Souttar and with the consistent presence of Connor Goldson, the club has found a stable defensive partnership.

At 30, Helander’s return may not align with Philippe Clement’s plans, as the club is focused on building for the future.

While they did bring back Leon Balogun, it’s clearly a short-term fix and while there might be some sense in getting Helander to Ibrox, it’s unlikely to be considered or suggested by anyone and that’s perhaps the best way to move forward.
