Glover Quin of Bleav in Lions recalls trying to cover Hall of Fame wide receiver Andre Johnson in his debut year.
The 2024 NFL Hall of Fame selections have been announced, and one of them is perennial wide receiver Andre Johnson. Johnson started his career with the Houston Texans and then played for the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans.
Johnson was a force on the field, ranking 11th all-time in receiving yards with 14,185. He was recognized for his spectacular playmaking skills, which former Texans and Lions cornerback Glover Quin recalls well.
Quin recounted having to cover Johnson during his rookie year on Bleav in Lions.
Quin recounts being asked if he was afraid of covering Johnson in practice if he got drafted, which he was not. However, he did not anticipate the size of the future Hall of Famer.
Quin was so intimidated by Johnson that he didn’t even dare to talk to him during practice. That makes sense considering the dynamic personality and player that Johnson was.
Though he was not in the Hall of Fame yet, Johnson was well into his career as a dynamic wide receiver. Quin eventually bonded with Johnson, but not before having to garner the courage to engage with the legendary WR.
