The 41-year-old has taken to X to vent his frustration with the system.
So, what has Barton said about Forest and their current predicament? Let’s take a closer look…
What Barton has said about Forest and FFP situation
It’s fair to say that Barton isn’t always on the money with his views on other topical football matters.
However, Forest fans might be interested to see that he’s siding with the club in this situation.
It’s been reported that Forest look set to breach the profitability and sustainability regulations for the three years up to June 2021.
Forest will apparently robustly contest them but if found guilty they could face a hefty fine, or at worst, a points deduction.
Barton doesn’t think it’s right that Everton and Forest are set to face charges, yet nothing has happened with Manchester City despite having 115 charges over their head.
Barton makes some valid points about Forest situation
It is hard to stomach somewhat that a newly promoted side could essentially be punished by the Premier League, despite the current period for submission covering two years that Forest were in the EFL.
The whole system is somewhat flawed and the fact that Manchester City still haven’t been sanctioned is just ridiculous.
It’s almost as if the Premier League are keen to make the gap between the big six and the smaller clubs even bigger with their system that has more holes in it than a sieve.
Still, Forest knew the rules and essentially they may now face a fine or a points deduction this season.
Lessons need to be learned behind the scenes at Forest. Barton does make some good points and it’s hard to imagine that the hierarchy isn’t furious.
However, rules are indeed rules and moving forward, Forest have to make sure they stay on the straight and narrow in the future.
