Fresh Ridvan Yilmaz Development Emerges At Rangers As Galatasaray Make Improved £2.9m Offer

Galatasaray have made a fresh bid of £2.98million in an attempt to sign Ridvan Yilmaz from Rangers before the January transfer deadline on 1 February, according to Fanatik.

The Turkish news outlet reported via their X account on 29 January that the new offer has been made, and if it is accepted, Yilmaz will become a Galatasaray player.

Jose Cifuentes also appears to be on his way out of Ibrox, with Turkish outfit Rizespor interested in his signature, although it is said he is not keen on a move to Turkey. [Derek Clark, 28 January]

Edging closer and closer

This bid is an increase on their previous £2.5million bid [Yagiz Sabunchuoglu, 27 January], and edges them closer to the reported asking price of £3.8million, although they may still have a way to go.

It would be fair to assume that the recent bid falls into the same category as those before it as a loan-to-buy offer from Galatasaray, with the fee to be paid at the end of the season, but Rangers appear to be holding out for their original asking price.

Yilmaz’s recent performances at Ibrox will have done the Turkish side no favours in hoping that price gets knocked down, and Philippe Clement’s management has started to see Yilmaz step up his displays.

The defender has put a string of impressive performances in at Ibrox since the injury blow to Borna Barisic saw him thrown into the first team, which could tempt Rangers to keep him after all, especially if their demands are not met.

With multiple loan-to-buy offers from Galatasaray having been rebuffed by Rangers, it is surely only a matter of time before either side changes their stance on the deal to get it through before the deadline day on 1 February.
