Joel Piroe stepped in for the injured Patrick Bamford at Swansea City and put in an eye-catching performance to help Leeds United go above Southampton into second position
Sky Sports pundit Sam Parkin praised Leeds United striker Joel Piroe’s “professionalism” following the Whites’ 4-0 victory over Swansea City.
The Dutchman was drafted into the starting line-up after Patrick Bamford picked up a knock in the warm-up. Piroe, who returned to the Swansea.com Stadium for the first time since swapping South Wales for Yorkshire, scored inside the first 10 minutes to double United’s lead.
It was Piroe’s 11th Championship goal, ending a four-game game wait for a goal in all competitions. The forward has been forced to play second fiddle to Bamford in recent weeks, but he got his chance from the start against his former side and took it with both hands.

“It was probably a different evening to the one that he was maybe expecting given that he was probably going to be on the bench for large portions,” said former Ipswich Town striker Parkin. “So really good professionalism, stepping into the breach and performing so admirably, especially in that first half.
“He then had a little look in at the number 10 position after all those substitutions. He’s been a valuable asset for Leeds this season.
