Newcastle United have the funds to make a splash this summer, but that is no longer the club’s main priority.
It has been reported that Newcastle United have a transfer budget of £100million, with most of it likely to go towards a right winger. The Magpies are also planning to sign a centre-back, as they aim to bring in Fabian Schar’s long-term replacement.
It is unclear who Newcastle will target in each position, but it is vitally important that they bring in players who improve the Magpies’ squad and have the potential to grow into top level stars in black and white.
On top of that, it is also ideal if these deals can be done as soon as possible, as that will give whoever arrives the best chance of settling in before the new season begins.
There needs to be a sense of urgency from Toon officials, but now there is something even more pressing for them to deal with.
England want Eddie Howe to replace Gareth Southgate
There is suddenly a vacancy within the FA, with Gareth Southgate leaving his post as England manager.
His departure comes as no surprise following England’s Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain, and now the search begins for his successor.
Eddie Howe is in the frame for the England job, which is also no surprise. Geordie Boot Boys were told at the start of the year that Howe was on the FA’s radar, and their interest in him leaves Newcastle United in a difficult situation.
It has been reported that Howe is relaxed about his future, but that could not be further from the truth when it comes to the Toon Army. There is an alarming sense of fear that we could soon be without a manager, and it is a fear that needs to be dealt with as soon as possible
