Philippe Clement, a self-confessed football fan, has insisted that crucial analysis work is assisting Rangers in making this season a success story.
Before being appointed manager at Ibrox last month, the Ibrox boss admitted to watching every Rangers game.
He has maintained his obsessive approach to management by conducting extensive opposition analysis and increasing video work with players.
“Every game, you need to look for the details, look for the advantage, how to press, with whom to press, and what are the weak links,” Clement said of Rangers’ press success against Sparta Prague.
“We’re also looking for open spaces.” We struggled with it in the first half in Prague, but we fared much better in the second half and today as well.
“It’s a lot of work from a lot of people, I must say. It is the work of the analysts, my staff, and everyone working together to make a good analysis of our opponent and where our opportunities come from.”
He continued, “I am a football freak, so I watch a lot of football.” I was familiar with the league and had watched all of the Rangers’ games prior to my arrival, and I continue to do so now.
“It is important to my job that I am aware of every opponent and the situation; I know that on Sunday, the synthetic pitch will be completely different, and we will need to adjust once more to that.”
The reunion of the playing squad and fan base at Ibrox has been just as significant as the innumerable hours of analysis and research that Clement has put in.
“We talked about getting the synergy with the fans back because it was gone a few weeks ago,” he clarified. It all comes down to working hard and, above all, working as a team. This involves working on the training field and watching a lot of videos to demonstrate the necessary steps to putting the team’s desired values into practice.
“I am extremely pleased with the team’s entry into the narrative. Every meeting I attend, I notice that some people are getting a lot of attention, and the senior guys and group leaders are actively pushing the narrative in the locker room.
