Ex-Rangers ace Morelos hires personal trainer after fitness admission

Alfredo Morelos has hired a personal fitness trainer in a bid to get into shape after admitting he needs to do more to succeed at Santos.

The former Rangers striker was bombed into the reserves at the Brazilian club and told he wouldn’t play in their Serie B campaign which starts tonight

Santos president Marcelo Teixeira claimed Morelos’ bumper contract was a remnant of ‘past administrations of the club.’

Hovever, after a meeting this week, Morelos was told he would return to the Santos squad, but must work on his fitness.

And the Colombian has agreed to do that after acknowledging he needs to improve, following just two goals in 19 games for Pele’s old club.

He said: “I’m not thinking about leaving Santos. I have a contract and I am training as much as possible to give the best version of myself.

I am aware that I must give something extra and that is why I am working with the club and with a private physical trainer to be 100%.”

Santos open their Serie B campaign – after they were relegated for the first time in their history – with a game tonight against Paysandu.
