Emma Raducanu Reflects on Career Struggles, Vows Changes for 2025
British tennis star Emma Raducanu has admitted to feeling dissatisfied with her career trajectory since her historic US Open victory in 2021. In a candid interview, Raducanu expressed frustration with her performance and revealed her determination to make significant changes as she eyes a resurgence in 2025.
Raducanu burst onto the tennis scene as an unseeded qualifier, stunning the world by clinching the US Open title without dropping a set. However, her rapid rise to stardom has been followed by a challenging period marked by inconsistent form, injuries, and early exits from major tournaments.
“I’m not happy with where I am right now,” Raducanu said. “The last couple of years have been tough, both mentally and physically. Winning the US Open was incredible, but maintaining that level has been harder than I imagined.”
The 21-year-old has faced mounting pressure to replicate her early success while grappling with recurring injuries that have disrupted her progress. She underwent wrist and ankle surgeries earlier this year, forcing her to miss several tournaments, including Wimbledon.
Raducanu also acknowledged the toll of off-court distractions, including frequent coaching changes and the intense scrutiny that comes with being a global sports icon. “It’s been a learning curve,” she admitted. “I’ve had to figure out who I am as a player and as a person.”
Looking ahead to 2025, Raducanu is determined to rebuild. “I’m committed to making changes,” she affirmed. “That means focusing on my fitness, finding stability in my team, and setting realistic goals. I know I have the talent, and I’m ready to put in the work.”
Raducanu’s fans will be eagerly watching as she aims to recapture the form that once made her a household name, proving that her US Open triumph was just the beginning of her te
nnis journey.
