Eli Tomac Speaks Out After Breaking Fibula at Tampa Supercross
Supercross star Eli Tomac has spoken publicly for the first time after suffering a broken fibula during the Tampa Supercross on Saturday night. The defending champion crashed during his heat race at Raymond James Stadium, forcing him out of action and delivering a significant blow to his 2024 Monster Energy Supercross season.
Tomac, a two-time Supercross champion and one of the sport’s most dominant riders, took to social media to update fans on his condition. “I’m obviously devastated,” he wrote. “This isn’t how I wanted my season to go, but injuries are part of racing. I’ll be doing everything I can to recover and get back on the bike as soon as possible.”
The incident occurred when Tomac landed awkwardly after a jump, causing his leg to buckle beneath him. He was immediately attended to by medical personnel before being escorted off the track. X-rays later confirmed a fracture in his fibula, sidelining him indefinitely.
This marks another tough injury setback for Tomac, who also suffered a torn Achilles tendon during the 2023 Supercross season finale. That injury kept him off the bike for months, and now he faces another long road to recovery.
With Tomac out, the Supercross title race is wide open, giving rivals like Jett Lawrence, Chase Sexton, and Cooper Webb an opportunity to capitalize. Team Monster Energy Yamaha has yet to confirm whether they will bring in a replacement rider.
Fans and fellow riders have flooded social media with messages of support for Tomac, recognizing his resilience and determination. While his return timeline is uncertain, Tomac remains focused on healing and making a stron
g comeback.
