Eli Tomac Signs Most Expensive Deal in Motocross History with….

Eli Tomac, an eight-time AMA Motocross and Supercross champion, has just inked a groundbreaking deal to compete in the full 2024 FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX). This contract, which places Tomac with Australia’s CDR Yamaha, could be one of the highest-value deals in the sport’s history, highlighting both his stature in motocross and the sport’s growing global presence.

Tomac initially raced in WSX in 2022, debuting with a win in the series’ opening round in Cardiff, Wales. Now, he’ll tackle the entire 2024 WSX season, racing in locations from Canada to Abu Dhabi. This move aligns with Yamaha’s strategic push to expand its brand presence internationally and bring global attention to supercross. The agreement allows Tomac to compete in both the WSX circuit and the U.S.-based Monster Energy Supercross with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, his primary team for American competitions.

This new chapter follows an intense recovery period for Tomac, who suffered an Achilles injury that cut short his 2023 Supercross season. Despite his injury, he returned to the track with a strong finish in AMA Supercross and will carry that momentum into WSX. “I’m excited to rejoin the WSX grid and aim to pick up where I left off,” Tomac said in a statement, noting that he’s ready for new venues and rivalries.

The WSX season opens on October 26 in Vancouver, Canada, followed by rounds in Australia and the UAE, promising fans high-stakes races as Tomac takes on defending WSX champion Ken Roczen and others in this season-long pursuit for the title.
