“I Don’t See A Foul On Gabriel,” Said PGMOL, Releasing The VAR Tape Of The Contentious Anthony Gordon Goal Against Arsenal.

The recording of Andy Madley’s interview with the PGMOL (Professional Games Match Officials Limited) prior to granting Anthony Gordon’s goal in Newcastle United’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal has finally been made public.

Before the goal was awarded, three different potential offenses were investigated, including the chance that the ball had left the field of play beforehand.

Regarding the location of the ball, Madley stated, “I don’t have any solid proof that it’s out. Even though it appears to be out, you are unable to go at that angle due to the ball’s curvature.”

Just before Gordon scored, Joelinton may have fouled Gabriel Magalhaes, but the VAR official missed it.

“I don’t see a specific foul on Gabriel,” he stated in response. Although I see two hands on his back, I don’t see anything that would cause him to propel himself forward in such a way.”

The unexpected officiating in the game and how it hurt his team’s chances of victory infuriated Mikel Arteta.

The entire four-minute discussion on this topic can be heard here.

According to Eddie Howe, Arteta’s VAR tirade “overshadowed” Newcastle’s victory over Arsenal.
