David De Gea Is In Contract Negotiations With Manchester United

David de Gea is reportedly in talks with a new club as he looks to continue his career following his release from Manchester United.

The Spaniard’s contract was up at the end of June and despite initial discussions to extend his stay, United allowed his deal to run down and signed Andre Onana from Inter Milan as his £47 million replacement.

On 8 July, De Gea posted an emotional statement after ending a 12-year association with United.

However, the 32-year-old has still not found a new club despite being heavily linked with clubs in Saudi Arabia, as well as Bayern Munich.

But while he did not find employment prior to the transfer window closing, the fact he is a free agent means he can still join a new club.

And according to Fichajes, a return to Spain and La Liga could be on the cards. It’s said that Real Betis are in talks with De Gea, who is now running out of options.

The Andalusian outfit were hammered 5-0 by champions Barcelona in their last game and are looking for a third option in between the sticks alongside 40-year-old former Manchester City shotstopper Claudio Bravo and Rui Silva.

A new report states: “Betis’ need to secure a quality goalkeeper is evident, and they cannot afford to wait until the January transfer window.

“The option of signing David De Gea, a goalkeeper with extensive experience in the Premier League and the Spanish national team, is very attractive for Betis.”

Valencia are also believed to be interested in but may not be able to meet wage demands.

Either way it looks like the former Atletico Madrid man will have to take a sizeable way cut as he was reported to be earning £375,000-a-week at United.

Betis’ top earner earner is Nabil Fekir, who is said to take £112,000 per week.
