Darren Bent Says Nottingham Forest Bought A Player Who Was Absolutely ‘Awful’ Last Season

Darren Bent has questioned Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner for his part in Ivan Toney’s goal for Brentford at the weekend.

The pundit has been speaking on TalkSPORT.

So, what has Bent said about the goal that Toney scored against Forest? Let’s take a closer look…

What Darren Bent has said about Forest goalkeeper Matt Turner

Well, it would appear as though Bent isn’t a huge fan of Turner and he’s battered the Forest player for his performance on Saturday.

Forest signed Turner from Arsenal, the club who Bent supports, in the summer. He cost the club around £10 million from the Gunners and is currently the number one.

The 29-year-old has drawn criticism in recent weeks. Alan Rogers said that Turner shouldn’t be playing in goal for Forest.

It would appear that Bent isn’t a big fan either – believing he was really poor last season and at fault for the goal scored by Toney at the weekend.

He told TalkSPORT: “I saw Matt Turner last season for Arsenal and he was awful.

“We’ve seen it before at Forest this season when Turner is trying to play out from the back with his feet, he’s been caught a few times.

“I blame the goalkeeper in that instance. Everyone could see what was going to happen, I blame the Forest players.”

Turner providing Nuno Espirito Santo with a conundrum

It does appear to be every week that Forest are holding a discussion about their goalkeeper and it simply won’t do.

Turner had very little to do at the weekend but still managed to ship three goals during a game that Forest might have fancied winning.

In fairness, he was powerless with the second two goals but the first one was the goal that lifted Brentford.

It does appear as though Forest might have to actively pursue another goalkeeper this month.

Jose Sa is one name who has been linked with Forest, with Espirito Santo managing him previously at Wolves.

However, with Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos costing £20 million between them, perhaps the club will make the decision for the head coach.

Something has to give though and Turner constantly looks out of his depth when it comes to playing in the Premier League.
