Cooper Webb blast to lapper jeremy hand over collision with Ken Roczen’s crash with the Lappers at Tampa Supercross

Cooper Webb Criticizes Lappers After Collision Leads to Ken Roczen’s Crash at Tampa Supercross

Tampa, FL – The 2025 AMA Supercross season saw another dramatic moment at Raymond James Stadium when Ken Roczen crashed after a collision with lapped riders, drawing sharp criticism from former champion Cooper Webb.

The incident occurred during the main event when Roczen, riding in contention for a podium spot, was caught up in a tangle involving Jeremy Hand and other lappers. As Roczen attempted to navigate through traffic, Hand appeared to slow unexpectedly, leading to a chain reaction that sent Roczen to the ground. The crash cost Roczen valuable positions, ultimately knocking him out of podium contention.

Cooper Webb, who was also working his way through the pack, did not hold back in his post-race comments. “It’s frustrating when lappers don’t hold their line or show awareness. This is a high-stakes race, and it’s disappointing to see situations like that impact the results,” Webb said. While he didn’t directly blame Hand, he emphasized the need for better race etiquette among backmarkers.

The incident sparked debate within the Supercross community about the role of lapped riders in tight battles. Some argue that faster riders must anticipate these situations, while others believe that the AMA should enforce stricter rules to prevent such incidents.

Roczen, who remounted and finished just outside the top five, expressed his frustration but remained diplomatic. “It’s tough. We’re all racing hard, and things happen fast. I just have to shake it off and focus on the next round.”

With tensions running high, all eyes will be on the next Supercross round to see if the issue of lapped traffic continues to play a role in the champions

hip battle.
