Tottenham face Arsenal in what is sure to be a fiery north London derby this weekend.
Both teams have so much to play for as we enter the business-end of the season. Arsenal are gunning for a Premier League title while Spurs are battling to qualify for the Champions League next season.
Speaking on Premier League Productions, Clinton Morrison has been previewing this game, and he was asked who the one Arsenal player he’d take in the Tottenham team is.
Morrison was tempted to choose Martin Odegaard after his brilliant season, but, ultimately, he opted for Declan Rice.
Clinton Morrison would love Declan Rice at Tottenham
Morrison spoke about the midfielder.
“Who is the one player from that Arsenal team you would steal and take to Spurs?” Morrison was asked.
“I love Odegaard, but that’s tough, I’m going to go with Declan Rice. Just because I think in that Tottenham midfield he makes a big difference. I could’ve put Odegaard in. I’m not saying Maddison is on Odegaard’s level, but they have that kind of same player, but they miss a Declan Rice,” Morrison said.
Declan Rice is exactly what Tottenham need
Tottenham have the makings of a great team, but, a lot of times in big games, they lack control, especially in the defence.
However, if they had a player like Rice screening the back four they’d be much better.
Tottenham certainly need a player like Rice in their midfield, but, as we all know, finding such a footballer is much easier said than done.
There’s a reason Rice cost Arsenal £105m in the summer, players like this are few and far between and you can’t just sign someone of this quality whenever you want.
Spurs need to spend this summer looking for a Rice type player to bolster their midfield.
