WHAT IS THE PREMISE?

Let us set the table, say Deshaun Watson completes the 2024 season and he is healthy but his play has him outside the top half of quarterbacks in the league, thus hurting the Cleveland Browns chances of competing for a Super Bowl then this is fair grounds to start planning for the future. The other issue that could lead to them looking at moving on would be him suffering from injuries again and not able to get on the field because teams can deal with missing players at other spots but the next man up mentality doesn’t really stretch backup quarterbacks are backups for a reason.

If Watson is playing like a top 16 quarterback then there is no need to panic after the 2024 season and you hope there has been enough progress that he can take another step forward in 2025. Ideally you want to get him playing like a top 12 quarterback with the ideal outcome being top 8. Either of these outcomes legitimately put the Cleveland Browns in Super Bowl contention with their roster and spending. While you are always going to lose if you play against Mahomes playing his best football you can match up with everyone else with a top 8 quarterback.

So this is based on what they could do during the 2025 offseason:
