Chris Sutton explains Celtic’s League Cup penalty victory over Rangers to Robbie Savage.

The celebrations in Glasgow’s eastern end are anticipated to continue throughout the week, as Celtic’s League Cup victory over Rangers is widely discussed.

Celtic triumphed over a tenacious Rangers team after a 3-3 draw at the end of the regulation 90 minutes.

After extra time failed to produce a winner at Hampden, the League Cup was settled in a penalty shootout.

Kasper Schmeichel’s save on Rangers’ third penalty gave Daizen Maeda the opportunity to seal Celtic’s triumph. The League Cup now resides in Celtic Park’s trophy cabinet, as the Japanese winger proved unable to miss from 12 yards.

However, the penalty triumph sparked a controversy between Chris Sutton and Robbie Savage, who were not convinced that Celtic could keep their cool in the face of Rangers.

Chris Sutton hails Celtic’s “unbelievable” League Cup win over Rangers. During his post-match interview on BBC 606 [34m], Chris Sutton praised Celtic’s triumph and termed it as “unbelievable” over Rangers at Hampden. Sutton’s reaction: “Well, Rob, what has been sensational?” Angeball appeared in Southampton’s first half, as did Brendan Ball north of the border. “Glasgow Celtic, another trophy for Celtic under Brendan Rodgers, Rob.”

“This season, they have been nothing short of extraordinary.” They have the potential to be unstoppable; they may be three-time champs.

Rob, you should take off your cap in honour of Glasgow Celtic and their performance this season. “Performing well in the Champions League, we have the opportunity to qualify.”

Rob, isn’t that quite remarkable? Celtic have maintained their supremacy in Scottish football this century, as proven by 119 trophies. However, Celtic’s penalty triumph did not persuade Robbie Savage.

Chris Sutton advises Robbie Savage to “just say it” after Celtic’s victory over Rangers. Savage attempted to undercut the historic victory by downplaying the penalty win, as he did not have Sutton’s support for Celtic’s victory over Rangers. Savage tells reporters: “They were able to draw 3-3 in 120 minutes, Chris, against the Rangers, who you consistently humiliate.” After 120 minutes, they drew 3-3. They won because of penalties.
