Carlos Alcaraz’s Coach Juan Carlos Ferrero Insists He ‘Still Has Things to Improve’
Carlos Alcaraz may already be a two-time Grand Slam champion and a former world No. 1, but his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, believes the young Spaniard still has plenty of room for improvement.
Speaking to reporters ahead of Alcaraz’s latest tournament, Ferrero emphasized that while his protégé has made incredible strides in his career, he is far from reaching his full potential.
“Carlos has achieved a lot at a young age, but there are still things he needs to improve,” Ferrero said. “He has the talent, the work ethic, and the hunger to keep getting better, but in modern tennis, you can’t afford to stop evolving.”
One of the key areas Ferrero highlighted was Alcaraz’s consistency. While the 20-year-old has proven he can compete at the highest level, maintaining peak performance throughout an entire season remains a challenge.
“Physically and mentally, he is getting stronger, but we are working on making sure he sustains that level throughout the year,” Ferrero explained.
Another aspect Ferrero wants to refine is Alcaraz’s tactical awareness. While his aggressive playing style has brought him success, Ferrero believes he can further sharpen his decision-making on court.
Despite these areas for improvement, Ferrero remains confident in Alcaraz’s future.
“He has the right mindset, and he is always willing to learn. That’s what separates the great players from the rest,” he added.
With the 2025 season in full swing, Alcaraz will look to build on his past success and continue his growth under Ferrero’s guidance as he aims for more titles and a return to the top
of the rankings.
