The Brisbane Broncos have reportedly shown interest in signing Melbourne Storm

The Brisbane Broncos have reportedly shown interest in signing Melbourne Storm veteran prop Christian Welch for the 2025 NRL season.

Newscorp reported the Broncos are looking for depth and experience in their forward pack after their 2024 season fade-out and have Welch in their sights.

Welch is under contract with the Storm until the end of 2026 with a mutual option for that season, but he can negotiate with rivals from November 1 this year.

However, the Storm welcome former Tigers prop Stefano Utoikamanu next season and have starters Nelson Asofa-Solomona (2028), Josh King (2025) and Tui Kamikamica (2025) on their books.

The Storm have a number of young exciting forwards including Lazarus Vaalepu coming through the ranks.

Welch, 30, is a former Storm captain and has played 161 games for the club since his debut in 2015, while he has also played six Origins for the Maroons.
