The Brisbane Broncos recently paid tribute to one of their most beloved former players, Carl Webb, following his passing in September due to Motor Neurone Disease (MND). The club hosted a 14-hour memorial visitation, allowing fans, teammates, and the rugby league community to come together and honor Webb’s legacy. Known for his fierce playing style and relentless strength on the field, Webb made a significant impact during his time with the Broncos and in the National Rugby League (NRL) overall. He was respected not only for his physical prowess but also for his character, dedication, and sportsmanship.

In an ongoing tribute to Webb, the Broncos renamed the strength leaderboard in their gym “The Carl Webb Strength Leaderboard.” This honor reflects Webb’s legendary strength and his influence on his teammates and the league. Webb’s children, Hunter and Brooklyn, along with Broncos staff and close friends, attended the dedication at the club’s facilities. Coach Kevin Walters expressed that this permanent memorial in the gym will serve as an inspiration to future players, capturing Webb’s spirit and reminding the team of his invaluable contributions.

 

The Broncos have also committed to supporting the Carl Webb Foundation through future events. During the 2024 season, both Queensland derbies between the Broncos and the North Queensland Cowboys will be dedicated to raising funds and awareness for MND, with proceeds from these games going to support the foundation’s efforts. This lasting tribute ensures that Webb’s legacy as a player
