Brandon Hyde Discusses Cade Povich’s Orioles Future Following MLB Debut

Cade Povich is the Orioles’ seventh different starting pitcher this season. The team’s number nine prospect failed in his MLB debut, allowing six runs and four walks in 5.1 innings thrown. He had a 10.13 ERA in the 6-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. However, after the game, skipper Brandon Hyde informed reporters that he would not hesitate to use Povich again in

the future.

No, I would not. On June 6, Hyde commented, “I’m really impressed by him.” “I thought he handled things today quite well. You never know what to expect in a debut. In a difficult situation against an all-right-handed batting club. I felt he performed great.”

Just two days before making his MLB debut, the 24-year-old was called up from the Norfolk Tides, his Triple-A team. During a 40-day period with only one off day, the Orioles are attempting to rest several starters, including Kyle Bradish, who would normally start against the Blue Jays on June 6.
