Bayern Munich are considering Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as possible interim manager

Bayern Munich has added Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to its list of potential Thomas Tuchel replacements, amid doubts about the German’s employment.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has emerged as a candidate to succeed Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich. The Bavarians are keeping an eye on the former Manchester United boss, however they may continue with him until the conclusion of the season.

Bayern Munich to pursue Ole Gunnar Solskjaer?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been out of a job since leaving Manchester United in the middle of the 2021/22 season. The Norwegian has yet to find another project since but has now emerged on the radar of Bayern Munich, which might have taken a few by surprise.

The former Manchester United manager is one contender for the Bavarians to replace Thomas Tuchel, while Zinedine Zidane is also being evaluated. Christoph Freund, the current director of Bayern Munich, has long watched Solskjaer and may have the final say if the Norwegian is hired.

However, Florian Plettenberg says that the possibilities are 50/50 at this point, and no serious conversations are going place. Solskjaer’s style may fit Bayern Munich, which is why the former Manchester United manager has been on their radar.

Should he take over from Thomas Tuchel, he will have a massive task on his hands, although he has the experience of handling a big team. He might tick some boxes, although if he gets the job, the former Manchester United manager may have yet to be a popular choice among fans.

Thomas Tuchel’s days at Bayern numbered?

It has been a terrible period for Tuchel at Bayern Munich, having seen his side risk their Champions League campaign and fall behind in the Bundesliga title race. On the domestic front, back-to-back defeats to Bayer Leverkusen and VfL Bochum have seen them trail the former by eight points, while they have already lost their Round of 16 first leg away to Lazio.

As per latest reports, Tuchel might stay put until the end of the season. Bayern might accelerate their decision should they suffer elimination from the Champions League and fall further behind Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, which could prove catastrophic for the club.
