Alex Iwobi and Dominic Calvert-Lewin loved what one Everton player did after the 1-1 draw with Luton Town on Friday evening.
Sean Dyche’s men secured a hard-fought point at Kenilworth Road after withstanding intense second-half pressure from the hosts.
Calvert-Lewin had put the visitors in front from the spot before Elijah Adebayo equalised under ten minutes later.
The draw means Everton are now unbeaten in four matches and 15th on 37 points. Considering Luton have caused teams problems at home this season, there’s no shame in taking a point back up to the North West.
£15m Everton player does something Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Alex Iwobi love
James Garner started in central midfield before being withdrawn in the 53rd minute. The £15million signing was perhaps a tad unfortunate to be substituted after picking up a booking.
However, after the game, the 23-year-old made time to gift his match-worn shirt to a young supporter in the away end, something Iwobi and Calvert-Lewin loved.
Feel good factor back around the Everton first-team squad
Everton’s long winless run felt like a long time ago. Recent performances and results have completely changed the on-field outlook.
Now, there’s a sprinkling of optimism heading into the off-season. Who knows, one or two quality additions could allow this squad to compete for a top-half finish next season.
Yet, off-the-field issues are preventing excitement from properly building. 777 Partners’ are still trying to take control of the club, with the prospect of administration now on the cards.
Right now, even the recent good form can’t distract from what could happen over the summer months. The sooner the Miami-based group cleans up their mess and remove themselves from the picture, the better it is for all concerned.
