Alex de Minaur gets brutally honest about Jannik Sinner absolutely dominating him

Sinner Shines in Turin with Dominant Win Over De Minaur

World No. 1 Jannik Sinner delivered an emphatic performance at the 2024 Nitto ATP Finals, defeating Alex de Minaur 6-3, 6-2 in Turin. Sinner, playing his first match in Italy this year, overcame an early break to seize control, using his powerful groundstrokes and improved serve to dictate play against his Australian opponent.

The 23-year-old Italian, who recently claimed his seventh straight match win, dazzled the home crowd with his aggressive returns and consistent baseline play, winning 81% of his first-serve points and hitting 19 winners compared to De Minaur’s seven. With this victory, Sinner extended his unbeaten record against De Minaur to 8-0 and bolstered his bid to win the ATP Finals for the first time.

De Minaur, making his tournament debut, struggled to maintain his early momentum against Sinner’s relentless pace. Reflecting on the match, he praised Sinner’s game, noting, “His ball speed is so much higher than basically the rest of the people… I just couldn’t sustain the level I needed today”. Despite the loss, De Minaur remains hopeful about his chances in the group stage, with matches against Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz ahead.

For Sinner, this victory continues a stellar season, including triumphs at the Australian Open and US Open. As he eyes a historic treble, Sinner emphasized the importance of maintaining his high level, particularly against formidable upcoming opponents.

The win solidifies Sinner’s position as one of the sport’s dominant forces and showcases his potential to achieve further milestones on the world stage.
