Nottingham Forest are set to complete the signing of another player alongside goalkeeper Carlos Miguel.
The 6ft 7in stopper is set to travel to Forest for talks after a £3.4 million release clause was met over the weekend.
Miguel played for Corinthians yesterday and drew some praise from the Brazilian media for a solid performance.
Now, Forest look to be ramping up their efforts to sign new players and a new midfielder looks to be coming to the City Ground.
Forest to sign Marko Stamenic
According to The Athletic, Forest are now set to complete a deal to sign Marko Stamenic – but he won’t come straight to the City Ground.
It’s claimed that the Red Star Belgrade player will first go to Olympiacos on a season-long loan after Forest complete a £4.6 million transfer.
Stamenic had been linked with a move to Coventry in recent weeks but now Forest look to have stolen a march on them.
The player will now sign terms at Forest before heading to Greece to join the UEFA Conference League winners.
Stamenic typically operates as a holding midfielder but does have the versatility to play further forward – as proved during the 2023/24 campaign.
During his time with Red Star over the last season he’s scored twice, claimed one assist and been cautioned seven times in 35 appearances.
Who is Marko Stamenic?
The 22-year-old is a New Zealand international – alongside Forest striker Chris Wood – and has made 15 appearances for the national team.
Stamenic started his career playing lower-league football in New Zealand before being picked up by FC Copenhagen in 2020.
He rose through the ranks in Denmark and spent some time on loan with Danish outfit HB Koge.
In July 2023, he was snapped up by Red Star Belgrade when Copenhagen chose not to extend his contract.
Forest-linked Stamenic made just 23 appearances for the Danish giants and has gone on to make 35 during his time with Red Star.
