SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Caitlin Clark not making the 12-team roster causing a lot of chatter about the number 1 overall pick, who’s elevating the game but not getting a chance to play in Paris this summer.
Clark is 14th in scoring, averaging 16.8 ppg. The superstar has quickly become everyone’s favorite after her collegiate career, but does it warrant a spot on the USA Olympic team?
The women’s USA Olympic team has won seven straight gold medals, which is saying a lot about the talent chosen to be part of the team.
This year’s roster consists of the following: A’ja Wilson, Breanna Stewart, Diana Taurasi, Alyssa Thomas, Brittney Griner, Napheesa Collier, Jewell Loyd, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, Kahleah Copper, Sabrina Ionescu, and Chelsey Gray.
One name you don’t see on the list is Dallas Wings star and former Notre Dame superstar, Arike Ogunbowale. If there’s anybody that was snubbed, it’s Ogunbowale, who’s averaging the second most points this season (26.5 ppg).
“Honestly, no disappointment. Like I think it just gives you something, something to work for. You know, that’s a dream, you know, hopefully, one day I can be there. And I think it’s just a little more motivation. You remember that? And, you know, hopefully in four years or four years comes back around, you know, I can be there,” Clark said.
