Rangers Might Sign Jack Mk II If Philippe Clement Joins The SPFL.

Rangers’ signing of Ryan Jack on a free transfer in the summer of 2017 sparked outrage in Aberdeen, and Philippe Clement might do the same in 2023.

Derek McInnes stripped Gers number eight of the captaincy ahead of a Scottish Cup final as he refused to sign a new contract – nice. There was never an announcement that Rangers had signed a pre-contract agreement with the Aberdeen captain, but McInnes didn’t exactly help someone who deserved better, and now they have the chance to be equally as disappointed.

Rangers can get Jack repeat if Philippe Clement makes SPFL move

The former Gers boss candidate had not long been offered the chance to sit on the Ibrox hotseat and his behaviour during this episode perfectly demonstrates how we dodged a bullet.

When asked if Rangers had made an offer to Ryan Jack, the then Aberdeen boss told the BBC:

“He gave me assurances that there has been no contact, that he doesn’t anticipate contact and that it’s not something he’s interested in.

“I have been assured by Ryan – and I trust Ryan – that he nor his agent have had any contact with

Instead of grandstanding to the media, he should have protected his player.

All he did was throw him under a double-decker bus.

Rangers should always be looking to sign the best from the rest and in Aberdeen’s Connor Barron Philippe Clement has the perfect chance to wind up the Dons’ fans once again.

Speaking recently, the Scotland Under-21 captain, who recently partnered Leon King in midfield against Belgium and Hungary, was quick to dismiss contract talks with his set to expire in the summer:

“Talks are ongoing at the moment and that will take care of itself.”

The 21-year old was offered a new contract last season and turned it down and, this time around, negotiations seem to be taking an age too.

Almost like he is looking for a move to a bigger and better club.

Rangers are desperate for good quality, young, home grown players and Connor Barron has been outstanding for Aberdeen this season.

He could be the new Ryan Jack in more ways than one with a similar style of play to the 31-year old Scotland international.

Rangers against Aberdeen is always a feisty affair and it would ramp things up again if we nicked their most talented youngster for nothing.
