Maresca is keen to sit down with the board after previously failing to be made aware of the Foxes’ FFP issues.
Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca is keen to discover why he wasn’t told about the club’s financial fair play issues.
The Foxes have recently been charged with a breach of financial rules by the Premier League.
The EFL have also placed them under a transfer embargo.
Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca has admitted that he would be keen to sit down with key figures at the King Power Stadium amid the club’s financial fair play issues, speaking to the BBC.
The Foxes lost £89.7m during the 2022/23 campaign, which took their losses over a three-year period to more than £215m.
They may have won promotion, which is a financial boost for them, but the maximum they can lose in the Premier League over three years is £105m.
With this, Leicester were charged for an alleged breach of financial rules back in March and they may need to raise a significant amount of money before the end of June to avoid further charges.
That may mean a key player or two needs to be sold during the early stages of the summer transfer window, which isn’t ideal for the Foxes who will be hoping to remain in the top flight for the long term after managing to get back there at the first time of asking.
Not only are these financial fair play woes potentially set to be an issue in the future, they are also causing issues now with the EFL placing them under an embargo following an alleged breach of financial rules.
Enzo Maresca keen on Leicester City talks
This financial fair play situation could prove to be extremely problematic for Maresca, who came to the Midlands club last summer potentially thinking that he wouldn’t face any issues.
Their summer business suggested that they weren’t in such a bad situation, having spent fees on the likes of Conor Coady and Harry Winks and keeping much of their first-team squad, even with the sales of James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Timothy Castagne in mind.
Maresca has revealed that he was unaware of these FFP problems when he came in – and he is keen for talks with key figures at Leicester because of this.
