Bryan King believes Jarrad Branthwaite might feel that another season at Everton could be to his benefit.
The ex-Everton scout has advised the centre-back to stay put after the Toffees recently secured top-flight status ahead of next season.
Branthwaite has been widely linked with a move away from Goodison Park after his impressive performances in the heart of defence this season, with Real Madrid reportedly interested in his signature (via TBR Football, 25 April).
But King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – feels that the 21-year-old might have had a change of heart.
“I think Branthwaite needs another year at least before he moves to be honest,” King said.
He isn’t the finished article and he might feel that another year under Sean Dyche with the club that he has developed with wouldn’t hurt him.
“But, that then brings us to the point of whether or not Everton will need the money, or if they will choose to keep hold of Branthwaite and plan for next season.”
Jarrad Branthwaite could benefit from staying put at Everton
There is no doubt that Branthwaite has earned a move to a club fighting higher up the Premier League or elsewhere in Europe.
However, remaining with Everton and spending another season developing with the club might not be such a bad idea for the young defender.
Sometimes players can move before they are ready, and Branthwaite certainly isn’t the finished product.
If Branthwaite does choose to remain on Merseyside, and Everton can afford to keep hold of him, supporters at Goodison Park could begin to start feeling slightly more optimistic about next season.
