Monk has put together back-to-back outstanding seasons.
Former Kentucky Wildcats’ star Malik Monk has put together two outstanding seasons in a row but continues to get snubbed when it comes of award voting.
Last season, Monk led the NBA in bench points and was somehow not named the NBA’s 6th Man of the Year.
This season, Monk averaged 15.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 2.9 rebounds off the bench for the Sacramento Kings while shooting 35% from 3-point range.
Unfortunately for Monk, he was once again snubbed from winning the 6th Man of the Year award and missed it by just three votes.
To take it a step further, Monk had the most points, assists, 20-point games, 25-point games, and most clutch points, field goals made, and 3s made off the bench in the NBA this season.
That makes Monk the first player in 35 years to lead the league in bench points two years in a row and not win the award.
I am not sure what more Monk has to do to win the award, but the former Kentucky star has put together back-to-back outstanding seasons.
