The winger got some rare playing time during the international break, but he’s ready for me.
If he does not get first-team play before January, Celtic’s forgotten Marco Tilio will contemplate a January loan.
The 22-year-old made his first appearance of the season for the Australian under-23s, coming off the bench to help them beat Qatar 2-1 in a friendly at the weekend. Tilio, who has seven full Socceroos caps, is hopeful that his involvement with the Olympicroos will help him break into Brendan Rodgers’ first team.
If it doesn’t, then he would be open to a possible loan deal. The weekend was a moment of rare action for Tilio, as he still has to make a first-team appearance for Celtic. The winger arrived at Celtic from Melbourne City in the summer, but an early injury left him sidelined and playing catch-up. Tilio was also signed by former manager Ange Postecoglou, with Rodgers now taking over at the helm.
The Australian has found himself behind Luis Palma, Daizen Maeda, James Forrest, and Jyunjun Yang in the fight for the wide positions. Rodgers admitted that some of his ring-rusty squad might look to go and get more game time come January.
