“Superstar Showdown: Caitlin Clark Set to Challenge Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu in 3-Point Shootout at 2025 All-Star Weekend!”

The 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend included a highly successful 3-point shooting competition between Sabrina Ionescu and Stephen Curry.

Although Curry prevailed over Ionescu in their head-to-head one-round match last month, the occasion raised awareness of women’s basketball and produced a lot of favorable press for the WNBA and NBA.

Because of the overwhelming attention the incident received, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver made a suggestion that there might be another shootout between Curry and Ionescu at the San Francisco All-Star Game in 2025.

“Sabrina’s from the Bay Area. You know the All-Star Game’s in San Francisco, of course Steph is there,” Silver said during an appearance on “King Charles” television show on CNN. “So I ran into both of them the next day; I said, ‘What do you think?’ They were like, ‘Game on for next year.’ But they both … want to have best of three. Which I thought was really interesting. They were both nervous. I mean, they’re two of the greatest shooters in the world. It’s a lot of pressure when it’s one round, you know, you just sort of – you’re off a little bit. So they want to do it again.”

Silver added that other WNBA players will be integrated into the events at All-Star Weekend. He knows that Iowa star Caitlin Clark has declared for the WNBA draft in May and is expected to be the No. 1 pick. The prospect of a Curry, Ionescu and Clark 3-point shootout would be enormously popular.

“Obviously, everybody’s excited about Caitlin coming into the league,” Silver said. “There’s some obviously great talent in the WNBA right now.”
