Aberdeen Are Preparing To Raise Their Game Against Rangers

This is the last one we’ll print on the subject, and it comes as a number of Rangers fans expect Aberdeen to put up a considerably tougher fight against Rangers on Sunday than they did against Celtic 10 days ago. That they up their game against us and surrender to Celtic. So we wanted to look back at the last 10 Pittodrie results between Aberdeen and Celtic, as well as between ourselves and the Sheep, to discover what the truth was.

Celtic:

1-3, 0-1, 2-3, 1-2, 1-1, 3-3, 1-2, 0-4, 0-3, 0-3

So they’ve won 8 of 10, Aberdeen haven’t won any, and they scored 25 conceding 9.

Rangers?

3-1, 2-0, 2-3, 1-1, 1-2, 0-1, 2-2, 1-1, 2-4, 1-0

So Rangers have won 4, Aberdeen have won 3, and 3 draws. Rangers scored 15 conceding 15.

There is no doubt Aberdeen and Rangers have a feisty rivalry that Celtic and Aberdeen don’t have. And the proof that Aberdeen raise their game certainly at Pittodrie against Rangers is there for all to see.

There is also the mitigating factor that Rangers have been absolutely mince domestically aside 55, for the best part of 12 years, so Aberdeen have not had as big a challenge against us that they did against Celtic.

But there’s no question they raise their game against us, because they reckon they can take something from us. Against Celtic their hopes of this are lower.

It makes for a cracking game, and any Rangers fan complaining they raise their game is clearly not interested in rivalry or being competitive. We want a battle, and we want to beat them. And we’ve not been doing that enough on their patch in recent years.

So Sunday is a good chance for Philippe Clement to further cement his Rangers overhaul by dispatching the Dons on his first visit there.

We look forward to it.
