Garang Kuol, a young player for Newcastle United, has a wrecked loan due to a political crisis at his present club.
The 19-year-old Australian international made 12 league games from the beginning of the season until early December. He is currently on loan at FC Voldendam in the Eredivisie.
Although Kuol’s lack of starts raised some eyebrows, he has only played 32 minutes in the last ten games, and Voldendam is currently in dire straits at the bottom of the league after a difficult few months off the field.
Since the start of the season, 12 members of staff have left the club, including manager Matthias Kohler, sports director, and chief scout, all of whom campaigned to sign Kuol last summer.
The ultra-defensive style of play utilized by new manager Regillio Simons has resulted in a system shift and has had an affect on Kuol’s place in the club. The Australian talent is no longer in their starting lineup, and it is no fault of his own.
Kuol will remain at Voldendam until the end of the season, but the teenager will undoubtedly be eager to return to Tyneside to further his development. Let’s hope he does better next season, when he’ll most certainly be loaned out again.
