Joe Mazzulla praises Jaylen Brown for his outstanding offensive display against the Nugggets, saying, “He had a tremendous game.”

Against the reigning champions, Jaylen Brown put forth a relentless effort in the paint and on the boards, demonstrating why he was chosen Eastern Conference Player of the Week.

Although Brown had a fantastic scoring game, the Denver Nuggets were too strong for him to overcome. Brown’s individual efforts had a big impact on the game, especially on prime-time television, even though the Celtics lost 115-109. Brown’s contributions stopped what could have been a much worse deficit when Jayson Tatum was having difficulties.

There were a lot of errors made, especially by Brown, who missed many inside looks and seven free throws. But even if he did blow a clear slam, it would be unjust to put the entire burden on him. Missed field goals, blown defensive covers, and live turnovers all contributed to the defeat.

Joe Mazzulla, the head coach of the Boston Celtics, commended Brown for driving the offense most of the evening with his aggressiveness and tenacity.

Regarding Brown’s aggression, coach Mazzulla told CLNS, “That’s the type of physicality needed.” “I believed he carried that across the entire floor.”

As a leader on the team, Brown took ultimate responsibility for the loss, even going as far as to blame himself. He also conveyed a message to the Nuggets that if they were to meet again, things would be different.

“Too many mistakes,” Brown told CLNS on what cost the Celtics the game against the Nuggets. “It’s a good team, we have to take advantage. Turnovers. Free throws. Missing the defensive assignments. All of that stuff we have to be better at, and it starts with me, starts with the top, starts with Jayson [Tatum].”

Despite different coverages thrown as Nikola Jokic, he still managed to put up a triple-double. Brown, always eager to guard the best opponent, “felt like he should’ve guarded Jokic a little bit.”

As the postseason nears, this game had a playoff atmosphere. By the end of the game, Brown recorded an impressive performance, tallying a season-high 41 points along with two steals and four assists. He shot 16-29 from the field, including 2-7 from beyond the arc. Additionally, Brown secured a season-high 14 rebounds, marking a career-best six offensive boards. Scoring 37.6 percent of Boston’s total points, the wingman accounted for 25 of the Celtics 54 points inside the paint.
