Rangers and Celtic ‘slugest’ predicted after what Jonest saw in Scottish Premiership

Rangers have now put themselves in a great position to win the Scottish Premiership title, according to Dean Jones.

The journalist believes Philippe Clement’s men can lift the league trophy this season, with fresh belief now at Ibrox under the Belgian

Rangers currently sit second place in the table with 58 points, three behind league leaders Celtic, although the former do have a game in hand.

“I do think they can win the title,” Jones told GIVEMESPORT. “There will be new belief at Rangers, especially if they do get to have a go at being the top club at some point because it has been a while since they could exert any authority in that position.

“Sometimes, when you are the team doing the chasing and making up ground, we’ve seen that there can be less pressure and expectation attached to the scenario of trying to win the league. That could be a motivator for Rangers as they go on to try and win the title.

It does feel like it is going to be a bit of a slugfest from here, with these teams going at each other game after game and win after win. But Rangers have put themselves in with a great shout, and that is a situation I definitely wouldn’t have imagined earlier in the season.”

Rangers within touching distance of Celtic

The Gers have enjoyed quite the turnaround in recent months, with much of their success down to Clement. The man in the dugout has completely transformed the situation at Ibrox, which did look rather bleak earlier in the season under his predecessor Michael Beale.

Beale was quickly dismissed after summer transfer failures, with the board then taking their time to find the right replacement. And that patience has massively paid off, with Rangers going really strong domestically and in Europe.

The Ibrox side are into the knockout stages of the Europa League and the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup, having already won the League Cup.
