But the Rangers manager is expecting a highly-motivated Staggies side to visit Glasgow after the controversial exit of Derek Adams.

As a result of the ex-Morecambe boss’s ill-fated stint in the Scottish Premiership, rookie boss Don Cowie is set to take the reins in Dingwall.

Cowie’s first experience of management, it’s the second league game in a row Philippe Clement has faced a new manager having welcomed Neil Warnock and Aberdeen to Rangers last week.

Whilst there is not much in the way of evidence with regards Cowie’s methods, the Belgian is not expecting the former Scotland international to reinvent the wheel.

“You need to see if somebody else comes in what are their ideas,” said Clement. “That’s in this case less clear because it’s not somebody who worked before as a first-team coach or a long time thing.

“I don’t think there will be big surprises and the good thing is, like I’ve said it already several times, we have now not long, it’s only four months now, but experiences together if other teams play in other formations what we have to do.

“So the team knows and they are prepared, and we speak about that and we show them so there cannot be a surprise about that.

“And we know the players of them also so we know their strong points and where their weaker points are so that’s the most important.”

Rangers expect motivated Ross County

With the permutations of a Rangers victory potentially set to send a shockwave through Scottish football, Ross County will have other ideas.

All the attention is firmly focused on Rangers and Philippe Clement closing the seven-point gap between themselves and Celtic which was there when the Belgian took charge.

After sacking their manager, focused Phil Clement reckons Rangers are set to face a different animal in Ross County, who’re without a win in 10 matches.

“I don’t like this when you say teams are fragile or whatever,” said Clement. “Players always have their pride.

“Also people who get a chance to be coached suddenly. I was interim when a coach was sacked so you were super motivated and you give everything day and night.

“So we expect a tough game like always, and that we need to make the game, that we need to break open the wall, that we need to be really good with and without the ball, and focused on that.

‘“And Ross County also took seven new players in in the winter break so they’re also not the same team that they were in the first round of the league.”
