Michael Dawson Names The New Nottingham Forest Signing Who Has Got To ‘Hit The Ground Running’

Michael Dawson has given his verdict on Nottingham Forest attacker Giovanni Reyna.

The former Forest central defender and Sky Sports pundit has suggested that Reyna is already under pressure despite only just moving to the City Ground.

So, what has Michael Dawson said about Giovanni Reyna? Let’s take a look.

Michael Dawson comments on Nottingham Forest’s January signing Giovanni Reyna

Well, Michael Dawson has suggested that Giovanni Reyna is under pressure at Nottingham Forest already.

Reyna, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has only just joined Forest on a loan deal.

The USA international made the move to the City Ground from Borussia Dortmund in the final days of the January transfer window.

Former Forest centre-back Dawson has said that Reyna, who reportedly wants to play as a number 10 under Nuno, has got to hit the ground running a the City Ground.

The Sky Sports pundit has noted that Forest manager Nuno has a number of attacking options in his squad, including Callum Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga, who has done well for the Reds since his transfer from Manchester United in the summer of 2023.

Dawson said about Reyna on Sky Sports News (12:18 pm, February 3, 2024): “He has got to try to hit the ground running. Elanga being in there, Callum Hudson-Odoi, they have got an awful lot of players there, attacking players, but where does he fit in?

“He has got to try to hit the ground running, three-and-a-half months left, and he has to hit that form that we saw early on at Dortmund. We have not seen it recently for him, but I certainly hope he does well.”

My View: Giovanni Reyna could play a big role for Nottingham Forest

In my opinion, Giovanni Reyna could play his role for Nottingham Forest in the coming weeks and months, as Nuno’s side aim to avoid the dreaded drop to the Championship.

While Forest do have a number of good attacking players, the fact of the matter is that the Reds have not been always great in attack.

After all, the Reds have scored just 27 goals in 22 Premier League matches so far this season.

Yes, I understand that Reyna will have to work hard to get into the team and will have to hit the ground running, but now head coach Nuno has another quality attacking option at his disposal.
