Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo now knows the Nottingham Forest squad he has to work with for the second half of the Premier League season.
A big January overhaul of the dressing room was never going to be required, but the Reds did make a few changes before Thursday’s transfer deadline. Gio Reyna (Borussia Dortmund) and Rodrigo Ribeiro (Sporting Lisbon) both joined on loan, while Matz Sels penned a permanent contract
.Some players headed in the opposite direction as Forest placed an emphasis on trimming numbers. Orel Mangala was a notable departure, and there could yet be further exits as certain transfer windows around the world remain open.
The club wanted to end the window having either broken even or made a net profit. Significant splashing of cash was always going to be unlikely as the Reds sought to demonstrate to the Premier League that they are taking being charged with breaching Profitability and Sustainability rules seriously.
Forest will hope the deals done have strengthened Nuno’s options. They will also hope the Portuguese has sufficient resources at his disposal to get the team up the Premier League table.
Now the dust has settled on the transfer window, we take a look at when every player in the squad is due to see their contract expire. Details have not always been disclosed when a player has signed.
