Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly on the verge of a sensational return to Real Madrid for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, reigniting hopes of a final chapter with the club where he became a legend.

According to multiple reports, including from Real Madrid Confidencial and beIN SPORTS, FIFA’s updated tournament regulations allow clubs to register up to six players on short-term contracts for the expanded 32-team Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States this summer. Ronaldo, whose contract with Al Nassr expires on June 30, 2025, would be eligible to join Real Madrid on a temporary basis if he does not renew with the Saudi club.
Al Nassr, Ronaldo’s current team, failed to qualify for the tournament, and the club’s sporting director, Fernando Hierro, has confirmed ongoing negotiations with Ronaldo amid exit rumors. Despite a trophyless season, Ronaldo has continued to perform at a high level, scoring 33 goals in 39 appearances across all competitions.
Real Madrid fans have expressed excitement at the prospect of Ronaldo’s return. Tomas Roncero, editor-in-chief of Spanish publication AS, stated, “Nothing would make me happier than seeing him play in the Club World Cup with Real Madrid.” Fans believe his experience and leadership could be decisive in the short tournament format.
While no official confirmation has been made, the possibility of Ronaldo donning the iconic white jersey once more has captivated the football world. With the Club World Cup approaching, all eyes will be on whether this reunion materializes.
