Rangers Transfer News Latest On Marko Bulat And Josh Doig Plus Borna Barisic Plans

There could be some Ibrox departures in the coming days

Rangers have yet to ramp up their January recruitment drive since the arrival of Wolves loan striker Fabio Silva.

Philippe Clement is in the market for new signings as he looks to put his own stamp on the squad he inherited from Michael Beale. Sam Lammers has already been shipped out on loan after being deemed surplus to requirements and one or two others could soon follow. Reports in Italy suggest Ridvan Yilmaz is set to join Hellas Verona on loan for the remainder of the season, with discussions said to be at an advanced stage despite interest from Sassuolo and Monza.

Gers fans might have hoped that Scotland left-back Josh Doig would head in the opposite direction but the ex-Hibs defender is on the verge of completing a £4.3million switch to Marseille instead. It’s believed the 21-year-old has already agreed contract terms with the French giants and will put pen to paper on a deal until June 2028 over the next 48 hours.

That will leave the title chasers short of options on the left hand side of defence, but Borna Barisic is unlikely to be leaving this month. Instead, the veteran Croatian international could extend his six-year stay in Glasgow. Football Scotland understands Ibrox chiefs have opened talks with the 31-year-old’s representatives over the possibility of a fresh extension, with Leeds United keen on the player who has just six months left on his deal.

Meanwhile, Football Scotland can reveal that Rangers are keeping tabs on Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Marko Bulat. Boss Clement is keen to bolster his options in the middle of the park and Bulat, 22, has been identified as a potential option. The playmaker has managed five goals and two assists from 23 appearances in all competitions this season, but his £5m asking price could prove problematic.

Finally, Brighton’s pathway development manager Gordon Greer has hailed Abdallah Sima’s progress since moving to Ibrox. Sima has 15 goals in 34 outings so far this season and has already hinted that he would be willing to stay permanently. Whether or not the Seagulls would be willing to do business remains to be seen but Greer says the Premier League club have been impressed by his performances.
